Jon joined the Tri-Covery team in 2019 and is a talented Performance Recovery Therapist. In this role, he helps individuals with chronic or acute injuries, as well as athletic wear and tear, by enhancing the body’s natural rebuilding processes.

Personal Background

Jon is an Australian whose parents were diplomats, meaning he has lived in various exotic locales, notably Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Iran. He moved to the United States seven years ago to get married, and has lived just outside Washington DC, and for the last five years, in Chicago.

Jon grew up playing high-level rugby for state teams, even participating in many development plans and being groomed for a career in professional rugby. Sports-related injuries and life in general steered him instead to a path of community education, working with children. Coming to the U.S., Jon pursued training in massage, including sports massage, and even completed courses with Tatiana Tchamouroff, a notable and accomplished massage therapist who has worked with many professional sports teams.

Fitness Certifications

Certified to perform fascial, clinical, therapeutic, deep tissue, and sports massage, Jon is a graduate from the Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage, and has also received training in Kinesiology Taping and IASTM. Moreover, Jon recently completed his Level 3 Medical Fascial Stretch Therapist certification at the world-renowned Stretch to Win Institute in Arizona.

Jon has experience working with elite, professional athletes from soccer, tennis, baseball, running, cycling, professional trainers, triathletes, and even musicians, dancers, and tattoo artists. His vast level of experience with all manner of people and needs serves him well as he seeks to help everyone searching for solutions for their aches and pains.

In fact, Jon is known by many of his former clients as “The Australian Anvil” for his reputation of hammering out the kinks! But don’t let the name scare you – Jon possesses an amazing ability to judge the exact level of care needed by each client.

Jon says, “The opportunity to move to the Detroit area and work for the accomplished team at Tri-Covery is very flattering. The experience I will gain working on elite-level athletes (such as the Detroit Lions, whom Tri-Covery serves as therapists) will allow me to grow even greater skills that I can bring to the table for all my clients. Hopefully, I can even be a conduit to bring those skills to world of rugby, my first love.”
